Industry overview

Community & public services signage.

Make shared spaces easier to use.

Community & public services signage concept

Signage shaped around community & public services.

Public and community signage needs to welcome people who may not know the premises. Clear building identification, directions and room information help the space serve different activities without losing a coherent identity.

Consider the different visitors, event organisers and service users arriving through the same entrance. Agree names and contact information before designing the signs. Temporary notices need an organised display area so they do not gradually obscure the permanent directions.

Start with what people need to see.

A useful first package connects the main identity with the entrance and the information people need next. We agree the individual items, sizes and artwork together, so the result feels consistent across the premises.

Discuss readability, viewing height and the surfaces involved with the organisation. Printed panels, individual letters and changeable directories can support different needs. A coordinated approach also makes it easier to add another room, service or event later.

For exterior work, show the exposure and fixing surface. For interiors, include the surrounding colours and how the area is cleaned. If a graphic will be replaced regularly, tell us who will change it and whether an existing frame or display can be retained.

Your questions. Answered.

Which signs should we start with?

Public and community signage needs to welcome people who may not know the premises. Clear building identification, directions and room information help the space serve different activities without losing a coherent identity. Start with the main identity, then identify any point where customers or visitors need another instruction. The starter package above is a starting point for that discussion.

Can we update existing signs rather than replace everything?

Yes, send photographs of the items you want to retain, along with original artwork if available. We can discuss replacement graphics, matching finishes or a phased refresh. The condition and construction of existing signs will affect what can be reused.

What should we send for a quotation?

Consider the different visitors, event organisers and service users arriving through the same entrance. Agree names and contact information before designing the signs. Temporary notices need an organised display area so they do not gradually obscure the permanent directions. Include your premises postcode, approximate sizes, photographs, logo files and the date you are working towards. Mention whether you need design, delivery or installation so the quote describes the full requirement.

Can you help with design and fitting?

We can discuss design, manufacture and installation as part of the project. Artwork is reviewed before production, and any survey or fitting requirements are agreed for the actual address. Supply approved wording for specialist or operational signs and any landlord or site requirements.

How long will the project take?

The schedule depends on the sign types, quantities, material availability and fitting arrangements. Tell us your opening or event date at the outset. We agree the programme around approved artwork, any required permissions and the readiness of the premises rather than applying one lead time to every job.
