Industry overview

Education & childcare signage.

Help everyone find their way.

School signage sets the tone for families, pupils and visitors from the gate onwards, and it has to make reception easy to find while steering everyone else along the routes the school intends.

School signage – Education & childcare signage concept

Signage shaped around education & childcare.

Education signage has to work for new families, pupils, staff and visiting organisations. A clear entrance, consistent building names and understandable directions help the site feel welcoming and organised.

Plan signs around the different users of the site. Reception visitors, deliveries and everyday arrivals may follow separate routes. Agree the wording and naming with the school or provider, then give each message a clear place in the overall system.

School signage that welcomes and guides

Nursery signs that feel friendly and clear

Parents dropping off young children need a clear entrance, a safe route and somewhere obvious to wait. Nursery signs can be bright and welcoming while still showing essential information about entry, collection and contact details. Interior graphics in play and learning rooms can follow the same style, making the setting feel cheerful and cared for.

Education signage for colleges and training centres

Colleges, sixth forms and training centres welcome new learners every term, many of whom have never visited before. Education signage that names buildings and departments consistently, and matches the names used in timetables and joining information, helps them find their way. Visitor and event directions can then sit on separate, changeable panels.

School wayfinding signs for visitors and deliveries

Visitors, contractors and delivery drivers should usually report to reception rather than wander the site. School wayfinding signs at the gate, car park and building entrances can direct them clearly. Agree the wording and any safeguarding instructions with the school leadership, and we will present them consistently across the site.

Share a site plan and your naming list, and we will quote school signage for everything from the main gate to classroom doors. Contact us or call 01603 407786.

Materials that suit the setting.

Education & childcare signage setting

A main entrance sign, a corridor graphic and an event banner have different duties. Exterior specification follows the position and exposure; interior work should suit the surface and cleaning routine. Keep future changes to rooms, departments and event dates in mind.

For exterior work, show the exposure and fixing surface. For interiors, include the surrounding colours and how the area is cleaned. If a graphic will be replaced regularly, tell us who will change it and whether an existing frame or display can be retained.

Plan signs around the different users of the site. Reception visitors, deliveries and everyday arrivals may follow separate routes. Agree the wording and naming with the school or provider, then give each message a clear place in the overall system.

Your questions. Answered.

Which signs should we start with?

Education signage has to work for new families, pupils, staff and visiting organisations. A clear entrance, consistent building names and understandable directions help the site feel welcoming and organised. Start with the main identity, then identify any point where customers or visitors need another instruction. The starter package above is a starting point for that discussion.

Can we update existing signs rather than replace everything?

Yes, send photographs of the items you want to retain, along with original artwork if available. We can discuss replacement graphics, matching finishes or a phased refresh. The condition and construction of existing signs will affect what can be reused.

What should we send for a quotation?

Plan signs around the different users of the site. Reception visitors, deliveries and everyday arrivals may follow separate routes. Agree the wording and naming with the school or provider, then give each message a clear place in the overall system. Include your premises postcode, approximate sizes, photographs, logo files and the date you are working towards. Mention whether you need design, delivery or installation so the quote describes the full requirement.

Can you help with design and fitting?

We can discuss design, manufacture and installation as part of the project. Artwork is reviewed before production, and any survey or fitting requirements are agreed for the actual address. Supply approved wording for specialist or operational signs and any landlord or site requirements.

How long will the project take?

The schedule depends on the sign types, quantities, material availability and fitting arrangements. Tell us your opening or event date at the outset. We agree the programme around approved artwork, any required permissions and the readiness of the premises rather than applying one lead time to every job.
